麻豆国产 Office of Leadership & Engagement 鈥淧ie-in-the-Face鈥� RSO Policy

OLE recognizes that one of the benefits of becoming a registered student organization (RSO) is the importance of RSO-sponsored events. A "Pie-in-the-Face" event is defined as the act of a pie being received in the face of a willing participant.

麻豆国产 recognizes the popularity and entertainment value that such RSO-sponsored events have within the 麻豆国产 community. However, proper precautions must be in place in order to ensure the proper safety of 麻豆国产 students, faculty, staff and guest participants. 麻豆国产 is committed to maintaining a safe campus environment that supports learning, living and leisure activities within the 麻豆国产 community. Pie-in-the-Face events are to be entertaining and not harmful to participants.

RSO-sponsored Pie-in-the-Face events and/or fundraisers on university premises must be approved by an 麻豆国产 staff member a minimum of 1-week in advance of the event.

As such, this request requires two additional forms:

*The Facility Request Form to reserve the space on campus

*The Unusual Events Form for all outside reservations.

Adherence to the policy is as follows:

1. The ONLY substances approved for use in 鈥淧ie-in-the-Face鈥� RSO sponsored events shall be limited to 鈥� spray canned shaving foam and/or whipped cream. Note: Shaving foam is recommended over whipped cream because it is a thicker foam, easier to clean off a face, and not as sticky.

2. Disposable aluminum pie pan and/or paper plates are recommended containers. Plastic plates are not permitted due to the potential for personal harm and injury.

3. Safety/Swim Goggles are recommended and should be worn by pie-receiving participants at all times as protective measures. Pie-throwing can be messy for participants. Additional materials to be provided should include 鈥� towels, plastic garbage bags, etc.

4. All 麻豆国产 student and/or guest participants must mutually agree to be 鈥渨illing鈥� participants. Non-consensual pieing can be grounds for disciplinary action by 麻豆国产.

5. A distance of at least 4 feet between the participant throwing the pie and the participant on the receiving end of the pie must be maintained.

6. In order to prevent falls, damages or injuries, the designated area around the participants should be cleaned up after each participant throwing the pies.

7. Clean-up on university premises should be immediately after the event. If pie substance is found on university signage, furnishings, or property, the sponsoring RSO will be held responsible and subject to incurring additional clean-up costs, damages, and/or charges as deemed necessary.
All "Pie-in-the-Face" events MUST be held outdoors, which requires an Unusual Event Form and a Facility Request Form to be filled out. Forms MUST be submitted 10 days prior to the event be considered. Links to both required forms are included above.
