Every day we see another institution or company in the news having sustained ransomware or cybersecurity attacks, losing access to their systems or their customers’ data in the process. As Â鶹¹ú²ú continues to build its cybersecurity protocols and avoid becoming the focus of such a story, we would like to equip you with the knowledge to protect yourself and our employee/student data.
All Â鶹¹ú²ú employees will receive an email from cybertraining@eiu.edu with a link to complete the current fiscal year's cybersecurity training. The training takes approximately 20 minutes and covers common techniques attackers have used against Â鶹¹ú²ú. The training is required for Â鶹¹ú²ú’s cybersecurity insurance and will equip Â鶹¹ú²ú employees with necessary knowledge to identify and report threats.
In addition, some areas are required to take the annual Identity Protection Act (IPA) training; that training has been combined with this cybersecurity training. You can determine if you are required to take the IPA training by visiting: /ipa/Stated_Purpose.php

Why are we required to take cybersecurity training?
First, Â鶹¹ú²ú wants to train employees how to best identify security threats to protect our employee/student data. Second, by participating in cybersecurity training we keep cyber insurance rates lower and address audit findings requiring all staff to take cybersecurity training.

How long will the training take?
The basic cybersecurity training should take 20 minutes. If you are also required to take IPA training, allow 35 minutes for the total training time.

How often are Â鶹¹ú²ú employees required to take cybersecurity training?
Annually.
Am I required to take cybersecurity training?
All Â鶹¹ú²ú employees are required to participate.
Will I get a certificate at the end?
Yes, but it’s not required to certify completion.
Do I login to the training with my Â鶹¹ú²ú credentials?
Yes, the login will use Â鶹¹ú²ú single sign on like PAWS, Banner, and D2L.
