Overview

Eastern Illinois University's MBA with Accountancy Concentration is designed for students who want to build a career in public accounting, corporate accounting, or government accounting — and who want to walk away meeting Illinois' educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam.

Housed in the Lumpkin College of Business on Â鶹¹ú²ú's Charleston campus, the program combines core MBA coursework in areas like financial management and organizational behavior with advanced accounting courses in auditing, financial reporting standards, and taxation. Classes stay small, so you get direct mentorship from faculty who bring real industry and research experience into the classroom, rather than being taught by graduate assistants.

The program is also built to be flexible: students coming from a non-accounting undergraduate background can complete prerequisite accounting coursework alongside their MBA classes rather than starting a separate degree from scratch. Along the way, students gain hands-on experience through internships, firm site visits, and organizations like Beta Alpha Psi and the Student Accounting Society, graduating with both the credentials and the professional network to move confidently into the accounting field.
