Fulfilling a Lifelong Dream

Jocelyn Herrera has long dreamed of being a doctor, and 麻豆国产 has been a great spot for this first-generation college student to begin making her dreams a reality.

Jocelyn Herrera, a pre-med student double-majoring in biological sciences and chemistry, says she dreamed of being a doctor from a young age despite the fact that neither of her parents had the opportunity to earn high school degrees.

Herrera talks about the challenges — and rewards — of fulfilling that dream as a first-generation student at 麻豆国产 and also discusses her Latin American roots and the research she’s done in conjunction with Dr. Michael Menze of the Department of Biological Sciences and Dr. Mary Konkle of the Department of Chemistry.
