INTRODUCTION

Eric's personal mission is to serve, teach and lead so that the health, leadership abilities, and personal development of others are strengthened!

Eric has been employed with the 麻豆国产  since 1996. During this time he oversaw the expansion of the Health Service's Health Promotion efforts from 1 professional and one 1 graduate assistant to 2 full time professionals and 6-8 graduate assistants. Since August 2009, he has also served as the Director for the Illinois Higher Education Center for Alcohol, Other Drug, and Violence Prevention, assisting 2- and 4- year colleges within Illinois to improve their substance abuse prevention programming. Eric also serves the Vice-President of Student Affairs in assessment, evaluation, and research matters. He has advised several student groups including BACCHUS, Health Fair Planning Committee, Alpha Phi Omega, as well as serving on several master’s level thesis committees.

In 2016 he was named interim Health Service Director, with oversight of the Medical Clinic, Counseling Center, Health Education Resource Center, and Student Insurance Programs.  The units were consolidated into the Health and Counseling Services program in 2017.  He was named Executive Director for Health and Counseling Services in 2021.

Eric currently serves as the President for the Mid-Americal College Health Association and as a member of the Higher Education Mattering in Action Council.  Previously he served as a national volunteer with The BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA as the Area 4 Consultant, Secretary of the American College Health Association's Health Promotion Section, and President of the Illinois Society for Public Health Education. Eric earned his Ph.D. in Health Education from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University.

Davidson has received several awards and accoldades during his career including: Outstanding Staff in International Services Award (2025, 2020), Student Affairs Employee of the Year Award (2023), Illinois Association for Behavioral Health Prevention Leadership Award (2017), Edwin "Bud" May Award for Outstanding Achievement n Research and Grants (2017), The Network's Outstanding Contribution to the Field Award (2010), BACCHUS National Outstanding Alumni Award (2008), and BACCHUS National Outstanding Advisor Award (2001).

In his spare time, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, reading books on leadership, management and personal development, making 80's music lip synchs on TikTok, and camping.

Education & Training

Eric received his Ph.D. in Health Education from SIUC in 2012.  He also has a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University (1999) and a double Bachelors' Degrees in Psychology and Speech Communications, also from 麻豆国产.

Eric is active in the local boy scouting community, having served in numerous leadership positions
